Google lists Halloween 2020's most popular costumes

Thankfully, "the coronavirus" didn't make Google Trends' top Halloween costume list.

The company created the Frightgeist portal to inject a little spooky flair into highlighting what people are looking at for Halloween inspiration, even if it's just for a Zoom costume party. The top 50 costumes in the U.S. starts with the most stereotypical outfit for Oct. 31: a witch costume.

The top five continues with dinosaur, Harley Quinn, rabbit, and clown costumes.

The costume most closely connected to current events was a cop costume (number 50), after a summer of protests about racial justice and police violence. Notably, a cop costume made it onto Mashable's list of things not to dress as this Halloween. Oops.

Based on a search in my location, I would be seeing a lot of lions if COVID-19 social distancing measures didn't mean curtailed festivities in 2020.
